10 Fun Things to Do Outside This Summer

Are you looking for some inspiration to try something new this summer? Here are 10 great ways to enjoy the summer sun. Try a solo adventure, bring friends, or maybe meet some new ones along the way!

1. Stand up paddleboarding (SUP). 5024256838_2a5f00a20b_b-1

This relatively new sport has been growing rapidly in popularity. It’s a great way to enjoy the water in a variety of ways. Find a calm lake or reservoir for a relaxing paddle, or seek out a more exhilarating experience on a river or creek. An Internet search for SUP in your area is likely to direct you to all the resources you need to enjoy some time on the water. SUP yoga is also becoming very popular. Test your balance and build core strength by moving through yoga postures while floating!

2. Cycling.

How long has it been since you took a good, old-fashioned bike ride? Even if you cycle intensely for exercise, it can be really fun to take a leisurely ride alone or with friends. Maybe even find a restaurant that’s 5 or 10 miles away and make an adventure of it. Riding to breakfast can be a great way to start the day!

3. Hiking.

Even if you live in an urban area there are most likely some trails around that you haven’t explored yet. Sometimes the most interesting terrain is right in your own backyard! Be a tourist in your own town and see if there is a park, greenway, or open space that’s been set up to help people enjoy the outdoors.

4. Rock climbing.

Climbing gyms are popping up all over the place with lessons and equipment to help people try out this awesome sport. What used to require a substantial upfront investment and a trip to the mountains is now available in many places for less than $50.

5. Yoga in the park.

Whether you’re a seasoned yogi, or just thinking of trying your first class, outdoor classes are a great opportunity to connect with yourself in the context of nature. Check with local studios or search online for teachers who may be offering outdoor classes nearby. If you’re looking for a convenient way to carry your mat to class, check out our yoga mat sling harness.

6. Outdoor concerts/movies.

Check your local newspaper or your favorite local blog to see if there are any concerts or movie viewings happening in your neighborhood. From community swing bands to nationally touring acts to classic movies and silent films, an outdoor performance or show can make for the perfect summer evening.

7. Kayaking. Kayak_sunset_Lake_Ahquabi_State_Park

Pack up for a weekend trip or just paddle around for a few hours. Kayaking is another opportunity to get outside and cool down or get a great workout. If you need help tying down your gear, our shock cord or kayak bungee kit can help! Again, search your local area for watersports outfitters or kayak rentals if you’re not ready to invest in your own gear.

8. Scenic vistas.

Sometimes it’s as simple as driving to the top of a hill in your neighborhood to get a new perspective on things. Whether searching for the perfect photo op with family, finding a quiet place to relax, or exploring someplace completely new, turn on your visual observation skills by seeking out a beautiful view. Try to catch the sunset, some stargazing, or just a midafternoon time-out.

9. Picnic.

If you’re sick of run-of-the-mill lunches and dinners, try packing up some of your favorite cheeses, meats, fruits, and other goodies. Head out to your favorite spot or jump in the car to explore. Food can taste better when enjoyed in good company on an adventure!

10. Zip line.

Get up in the air and find out how it feels to fly! If you find yourself in the mountains, the forest, or even near the beach, you might be able to find an opportunity to get harnessed up and soar. All over the world, people are finding out how much fun it is to see things from above!

Now get out there and have fun! And don’t forget that Frontier Marketing Solutions is here for you with rope, plastic hardware, and other accessories to keep you safe and equipped for all of your summer adventures.
