GENUINE MIL-SPEC TYPE III 550 PARACORD
Mil-C-5040 military-approved nylon cordage. The US military specifications for Paracord quality give strength and construction parameters where the final product must adhere to these specific guidelines. Ravenox 550 Paracord passes military specifications in strength and elasticity.Â
The all-nylon construction makes Paracord somewhat elastic, with a minimum elongation of 30%, providing strength and durability during heavyweight exposure. This quick-drying, all-weather cord will not rot or mildew.
Construction:Â Genuine MIL-SPEC MIL-C-5040 Type III Paracord has 7 inner cords each made up of 3 strands which are twisted together. One strand has a tracer identifying it as MILSPEC.Â
Outter Sheath: The size of this paracord is 5/32-inch (4mm). The braided sheath of this parachute cord is made up of 32 interwoven strands, giving the 550 cord a relatively smooth texture. This outer sheath protects the core.
Kern or Inner Core:Â The core (also known as the inner kern) is made of several twisted yarns, nylon, and/or polyester fibers. The number is determined by the cord type, and each yarn is made up of three (MIL-Spec) smaller nylon fibers twisted together.Â

Key Product Features
WARNINGS:Â Knots reduce the strength of the rope up to 50%, splicing is preferable. Chemicals will cause it to deteriorate. Do not use this product for overhead lifting, support of human weight or athletic equipment, or other situations where personal safety or valuable property can be endangered.
The working loads shown should never be exceeded. Shock (stress or jerk) conditions can reduce working loads by as much as 33%. Never stand in line with rope under tension; such rope, particularly nylon rope, may recoil (snapback).
Never use this product to secure large flat surfaces or objects. All ropes should be replaced if signs of wear, such as broken fibers are apparent. Misuse can result in serious injury or death.
